Smita Sanghvi, President of Mountain View, has nurtured Dementia and Alzheimer’s patients of all stages since 1985 as administrator and president of the Mountain View Centers and five Mountain View Cottages for the elderly as well as Dementia and Alzheimer’s patients. She has been facilitating support groups for LA County Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association since 1989. She has participated and supported Orange and Los Angeles County Chapters Alzheimer’s Association for more than 15 years. She was a member of Education, Training and Advocacy committees. She is a member of Speaker Bureau of LA Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association. Based on her experience, all residents are cared for without physical restraint and most residents with minimum chemical restraints like psychotropic medication. She has cared for residents at all stages of Dementia and Alzheimer’s from early stages through hospice care. As we know that as disease progresses, the needs of residents change. Therefore different stages of Dementia and Alzheimer’s patients are cared for at different locations. Challenging & difficult behaviors are managed by an experienced and trained staff, activity programs, close supervision, daily structured routine, comfort of a home environment provided by a caring staff with love and patience.
